What's In 'Application Support'?
In an effort to keep my system nice and tidy I decided to look into my ‘Library/Application Support’ folder to see what’s inside. It turns out the whole folder is 1.8GB on my system. That’s a little bigger than I expected it to be. The main culprits are… Blizzard (97 MB) Most of the space seems to be going to StarCraft II auto-saves. No World of Warcraft stuff...

iPad 2 Resolution
So John Gruber says he thinks the iPad 2 will stay at 1024 x 768. His “sources” tell him not to expect a “retina” display on the iPad 2. I really hope his sources are wrong but he does make some valid points about the processor power and amount of memory required to drive a 2048 x 1536 display. But if the leak from Best Buy is accurate the price of the iPad 2 may be $100...

Why I'm Not Using Evernote
In my excitement to try out stuff on the Mac App Store I downloaded Evernote. It’s free and I’ve heard a lot of positive buzz about it. I’ve been using it for only a couple of days but I’m going to stop. Here’s why. 1. It doesn’t fit with my minimalist philosophy. My minimalist philosophy states I should use tools and applications that come with OS X if...

Verizon Finally Gets the iPhone →
I’m excited about this news not because I plan to switch to Verizon. I don’t. I’m excited because this means real competition for AT&T in the iPhone market. Already there’s speculation that Verizon’s free tethering will force AT&T to offer something better.

Mac App Store == Game Changer
It’s a game changer. Before today good Mac apps were scattered among individual web sites and you had to know what was out there. To buy one you’d have to break out your credit card and navigate through a different payment system for each app. Then you need to worry about keeping those vital license codes in a safe place. I’ve been a Mac user for almost a decade and I only...

Curating Your Life
I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of curation lately. The idea has come up frequently in tech circles the past few years. Apple’s App Store is often referred to as a ‘curated’ store. Some of the bloggers I enjoy following describe their activity as ‘curating’ rather than writing. Particularly ones which primarily share links with little editorial. With...

Marco.org: There really isn't much of a "tablet"... →
marco: There’s an iPad market, and the iPad could be classified as a tablet, from a hardware-centric viewpoint. But the market for non-iPad tablets is about as big today as it was before the iPad, which isn’t nothing, but it’s close enough to nothing that Apple doesn’t need to worry about it. How many…
